Connect Thirty Eight welcomes Pennypot Dental Practice on site
Pennypot Dental Practice, which has been operating for 25 years and currently has five practices across South East Kent, is the first business to take space at Ashford Commercial Quarter, the largest office development of its type to be built in a decade.
They join infrastructure consultants, Peter Brett, and accountancy firm, Wilkins Kennedy, as the first tenants be part of the latest chapter of the regeneration of Ashford, Kent’s international town led by Quinn Estates, one of the South-East’s foremost mixed-use developers.
Ashford Commercial Quarter, which includes 80,500 sq ft of office, restaurant and retail space – supported by car parking space and sustainable landscaping – will create around 481 full-time jobs when finished with Connect38 the first building to open.
Dr Naishad Patel, who founded Pennypot in 1993, knew that Ashford had a head-start when it came to choosing premises for the expansion of his dental business.
“When I heard that there was to be a new office block opening in the town, I realised that this was a fantastic opportunity which I wanted Pennypot to be a part of.
“Ashford Commercial Quarter provided a brand new, state-of-the-art building with a great location. Its strategic position to Ashford International Station is unrivalled.
“We made our minds up quickly and secured space within the building. As it was fairly early on in the build process, Quinn Estates allowed me to choose the position of the practice and design the space how I wanted it.
“This was excellent as I was able to create an efficiently run practice that was designed around the patient – rather than having the practice designed around the building itself. We decided to locate our surgery on the ground floor road-side, which gave us good access for disabled patients.
“One key benefit of Ashford Commercial Quarter is its direct proximity to the International Station. We believe that our new location will encourage dentists to travel from London to work at the Pennypot surgery, which is quite a rare opportunity. Getting new dentists to work in East Kent can be challenging. ACQ offers that incentive now to remain living and working in Ashford.
“This move onsite represents a really exciting chapter for Pennypot. Having gone from a team of four, we now employ around 80 members of staff including dentists, nurses and receptionists. We have five specialists that will be working within the Pennypot group, including an endodontist and prosthodontist, which means clients can stay within the one practice for all their needs rather than having to be referred elsewhere.
Mark Quinn, managing director of Quinn Estates, said: “It’s been a pleasure to work with Pennypot Dental Practice and now welcome them onsite. Ashford Commercial Quarter offers a contemporary working environment for dynamic and ambitious business, so fits the bill perfectly for Pennypot – as with our other tenants who are now moving onsite.
“Ashford is already recognised as a prime place to do business, but this development is taking Ashford to the next level. It is already boosting economic growth, enhancing facilities for residents with improved public space and, most importantly of all, creating a range of new jobs.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming more tenants onsite and seeing Ashford Commercial Quarter develop into one of the leading buildings for businesses to thrive and grow in the town.”
